Combining solid brass with distinctive Black ceramic detailing, the Sussex Black Cistern Lever from Rutland London provides an elegant finishing touch for luxury WC installations. Designed for use with compatible Thomas Dudley concealed cisterns, the Sussex transforms a functional flushing control into a carefully considered piece of luxury bathroom brassware.
The Sussex is machined in England from solid brass and complemented by English-produced Black ceramic, reflecting the material quality and craftsmanship found throughout Rutland London's collection of luxury bathroom fittings. The contrast between the dark ceramic lever detail and hand-finished brass creates a sophisticated appearance suited to traditional, transitional and richly layered bathroom interiors.
Designed for use with a concealed cistern, the Sussex allows the principal flushing mechanism to remain hidden behind the finished wall or bathroom joinery, leaving only the decorative lever visible within the bathroom. This creates a clean installation while retaining the character and tactile quality associated with a traditional cistern lever.
The Sussex is designed for configuration with compatible Thomas Dudley concealed cisterns. Compatibility should be confirmed before ordering, and we recommend contacting Rutland London with details of the specific cistern being used within your project so that suitability can be checked prior to purchase.
When specified alongside a back to wall WC, the Sussex provides an opportunity to coordinate the cistern control with basin taps, showers, heated towel rails, mirrors and other visible metalwork throughout the bathroom. Its Black ceramic detailing can be used to create a subtle contrast against White sanitaryware or a more tonal relationship when paired with Black vitreous china.
For luxury villas, private residences, hotels and interior design projects throughout Dubai, the wider UAE and Middle East, the Sussex offers a refined alternative to conventional concealed cistern controls. Its combination of Black ceramic and hand-finished brass is particularly effective within bathrooms incorporating richly veined marble, natural stone, dark timber and decorative metal finishes.
The Sussex Black Cistern Lever is available to purchase online in Polished (Unlacquered) Brass. As a living finish, Polished (Unlacquered) Brass will naturally age and develop a distinctive patina over time, with the rate and extent of this change dependent upon the environment in which the cistern lever is installed.
The brass components of the Sussex can also be produced across Rutland London's portfolio of 40+ handcrafted finishes, spanning Brass, Bronze, Nickel, Copper and Gold. This extensive selection allows the cistern lever to coordinate with the wider Rutland London brassware specification throughout the bathroom.
